Pre-Thanksgiving Joys

Pre-Thanksgiving Joys

Some lovely photos on flickr of Clementine's first Thanksgiving. It wasn't so much about food for her, but lots of firsts: cold (COLD! 17 degrees), snow, Santa...

Also, unhappily, she has started having the classic child fit, throwing her head back and arching herself so she won't fit in the car seat (or crib, or whatever). Here we go...

Kissing?

I forgot to mention that Clementine has been doing something else: she opens her mouth wide, and then presses it firmly against my arm, or leg, or foot, or whatever bit is within reach. This is evidently funny.

I am guessing that this is kissing, but then she only does it to me, so maybe she's testing to see what other kinds of snacks she can get out of mommy. Dunno... But it's pretty cute.

More Milestones

I mentioned maybe a month ago that Clementine is thinking about crawling. She is actually pretty proficient at the soldier crawl, which seems like a reasonable compromise because she can get around, but not so quick that we don't have time to see where she's headed and prevent catastrophes like colliding with Tibalt's water or heading down the stairs.

That seems reasonable, right? We all get what we want. But noooOOooo, she has to go faster, she has to get up on all fours. We're terrified (and absolutely thrilled).

Cuddling

Clementine has started laying her head down on our shoulders when we hold her and she's tired or just feeling cuddly. Ah, baby bliss...

Of Traps...

...tourist and fishy.

Went to the aquarium at Fisherman's Wharf with Chris and Zachary. This is really rare for us -- Fisherman's Wharf is fun once, and that is absolutely it. We never need darken its' shoals again to know that we just don't wanna, bushman notwithstanding.

Well, having been tricked into going by Chris, who said we'd meet at the aquarium, and then had the whoseywhatsits to be waiting at the Fisherman's Wharf aquarium instead of the civilized Steinhardt Aquarium, we actually rode a streetcar and >gasp< had fun! This aquarium features two tunnels with a moving walkway and Clementine stared and stared at the sharks swimming over her head. Also Trish's Mini Donuts help. :)

Sorry 'bout the poor image quality... Only had the camera phone.

Updated blog

I don't know if anyone reads this blog (hi Dave), but I've been really swamped and haven't blogged in a while.

Anyway, I updated it with 5 or so back entries, in case you're wondering what's going on. Didn't want to miss these trips and milestones, for posterity, you know.

I have no doubt that within the next week or two we'll be posting video of the little orangette crawling! Stay tuned!

The Windy City

I don't have any photos of this yet, but we just got back from a trip to Chicago for the weekend.

I got to present at a conference called About, With & For, which was quite an honor and great fun. Added bonus, the conference was less than a mile from Dad and Tricia's new flat downtown. So all three of us came and hung out and ate and went sightseeing. Of course the art museum and millenium park. A grand time was had by all. Clementine was especially fond of their nice thick carpets as she's thinking really, really hard about crawling. Augh!

I don't have any photos from our trip yet, but I'll post when I do...
