Making a splash

Last night for the first time, Clementine splashed in the bath tub. I don't know if she really knew what was going on, but it was really the first time she has taken a bath and not looked at us with that little scowl of hers. She always seems to be thinking, "I don't know about you two. I thought I'd give you a shot at this whole parenting thing, but I'm really beginning to have my doubts..." But not last night! She was having fun! (No photos, I was in there with her too, and I'll just spare you the whole spectacle.)

A toast!

To Trinity!

...to Brian and Wendy's new baby, Trinity. How perfect is that?

Clementine went to her first "real" movie yesterday, which is to say non-baby-specific movie. But in a rennovated church with like 16 couches instead of seats is all. So of course it's a bit quieter than your usual, and more neighborhood-y. We had a couch to ourselves, so she watched for a little while, ate, and then slept on the couch. She woke up right during the closing credits. The Perfect Baby!

We also went on the swings at the park for the first time. This was not particularly fun unless Jenifer was standing in front of us saying "Baby up close! Baby far away! Baby up close! Baby far away!" Etc. Then it was a barrel of laughs.

Clementine has started waving her hand back and forth, toward her face, then away, etc. etc. Rattles are suddenly fun now that she can do this. Seems like this will be important to being able to throw things later (which, now that I think about it, is a pretty complicated thing to do...

Symphony Baby

Clementine attended her first symphony performance last night. It was Bugs Bunny on Broadway, so it was all Warner Brothers songs played to cartoons being projected on a giant screen on the stage. We sat at the back with our friends Chris, Jenifer and Zachary in the "cheap seats" hoping it might be empty. Nope. Nearly full to capacity. Anyway, Zachary fretted and had to go home, but Clementine was nearly perfectly quiet. (At one point the conductor was talking too much and she started talking too, but that was easily remedied.) She watched the cartoons, was oohed and aahed over by fellow symphony-goers (which we were very grateful for), and finally fell asleep. I tell ya, you haven't lived until you've breast-fed in Davies Symphony Hall. Ryan and I are feeling like we might have a life after all!
